Centro
Nueva Creacion Summer Camp
Centro
Nueva Creacion’s Summer Camp program is basically an extension of
our Afterschool program: we continue to serve 32 children between
the ages of 5 and 13, Monday through Friday, in our primary location
at 185 W Tioga St .
Also, we continue to offer nutritious meals provided by the Archdiocese
of Philadelphia and an array of enriching specialty classes.
Centro’s
Summer Camp program is unique from the Afterschool program in a
number of ways: the program is open from 8:30am-5pm daily; children
attend fun and/or educational fieldtrips every Friday that are designed
to expand their horizons; children swim at the local pool Monday-Thursday;
other opportunities for social, educational, and artistic growth
are made available throughout the program as well.
Summer
Camp 2008
The
2008 camp theme will be “Neighborhood Hearts and Hands” and will
build off of the After School program theme “Healthy Living”. This
summer children will continue to explore the connection between
healthy living and environmental awareness through a hands-on, neighborhood-focused,
compassionate curriculum. Centro will incorporate gardening, nutrition,
yoga, poetry,
photography, and other artistic activities as well as computer classes
in order
to explore this year’s theme. Centro will also offer enriching fieldtrips
for children, including trips to the John Heinz National Wildlife
Refuge, Bartram’s Garden, the Tyler Arboretum, the Franklin Institute
and Dorney Park
.
